Mori Seiki to Celebrate 25th Anniversary
at Innovation Days

Chicago, Illinois, March 20, 2008 – Mori Seiki USA will be celebrating its 25th anniversary at Innovation Days 2008. This year’s Innovation Days event will take place at the company’s Chicago Technical Center on May 14 – 16. Presentations will focus on a wide variety of topics, including the latest machine innovations, new technologies and workforce development.

Attendees of Innovation Days will have the opportunity to visit the Mori Seiki University (MSU) facilities. Founded in 2007, MSU provided over 10,000 hours of training to employees, distributors and customers in its first year. Enrollment in classes is now open to all customers, who can attend classes at MSU’s state-of-the-art training facility or via Education On Demand, an immersive and unique online training environment.

Mori Seiki’s Machining Technology Laboratory (MTL) achieved significant breakthroughs in the past year and those new products will be on display as well. MTL concentrates on developing innovative technologies that improve all aspects of machining processes. Current examples of these technologies include the Hydrogage, Spinning Tool and Adaptive Balancer.

Visitors will see demonstrations on 20 CNC machines. Front and center will be the NMV5000 DCG®, which offers unparalleled performance in a 5-axis vertical machining center. Through the increased machine rigidity offered by DCG technology and a Box-in-Box Construction, the machine achieves superb accuracy. The implementation of DDM™ (Direct Drive Motors) on the B and C axes allows direction transmission of power, eliminating backlash and increasing precision.

Ideal for machining bar material, shafts, flanges and precision equipment, the NZ2000 T3Y3 is the world’s first multi-axis machine manufactured with three turrets each containing a built-in milling motor™ and Y-axis function. Compared to conventional machines, the NZ2000 T3Y3 can reduce machining time by approximately 30%.

Also on display will be Mori Seiki’s revolutionary NT Series of integrated mill-turn centers. Through unique machine design, the NT Series combines the turning ability of a lathe with the cutting ability of a machining center, without compromising performance on either side.

The DuraTurn Series of lathes and DuraVertical Series of vertical machining centers both offer high performance machining at an extremely competitive price. The DuraTurn line was developed with an
extremely rigid body to minimize the effects of vibration and increase accuracy, even over long-term operation. Additionally, newly released models in the DuraTurn Series feature a Built-In Motor Turret (BMT)
to provide reliable milling capabilities. In designing the DuraVertical line of machines, Mori Seiki concentrated on surpassing the machine performance of all other models in its class by combining reliability and accuracy with affordability.
